Who doesn’t love a free hotel night? As of Jan. 26, 2023, both the IHG® Rewards Traveler Credit Card and the IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card have upgraded their sign-up bonuses to new highs, making it easier than ever to rack up free overnight stays.

Currently, TBT values IHG points at 0.7 cent apiece. That makes these latest sign-up bonuses worth an approximate value of $1,225 for the IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card or $840 for the IHG® Rewards Traveler Credit Card. This baseline valuation is calculated by comparing cash prices to available reward redemptions for hotel stays across multiple destinations, dates and brands within the IHG umbrella.

Currently, TBT values IHG points at 0.7 cents each. That translates these latest sign-up bonuses to an approximate value of $1,225 for the IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card or $840 for the IHG® Rewards Traveler Credit Card when redeemed for IHG brand hotel nights. This baseline valuation is calculated by comparing cash prices to available reward redemptions for hotel stays across multiple destinations, dates, and brands within the IHG umbrella.

Here’s a look at the various hotel brands where you can use your IHG points:

  • InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

  • Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.

  • Holiday Inn Club Vacations.

However, our valuation doesn’t account for an important perk of the IHG credit cards and their associated IHG One Rewards program: free hotel nights.

Among the most enticing benefits of these cards, IHG cardholders get a 4th night free when booking with points — a huge value for long weekend travelers. Other hotel programs, including Marriott and Hilton, offer a 5th night free when booking through their points programs. However, IHG’s 4th night offer makes the benefit of free nights more accessible for shorter haul travelers.

Plus, IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card holders get a free night worth up to 40,000 points per night at an IHG property after their account anniversary each year — a benefit that easily offsets the card’s annual fee.

Which IHG credit card is right for you?

If you stay at IHG properties a few times a year, the higher bonus and increased perks of the IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card can more than make up for the higher annual fee and higher minimum spending requirement.

If you’re a casual IHG traveler, the no-fee card can still be a good value.
